Have you wondered, “What is a Success Habit?”

I talk about them in my workshops and share examples in my newsletters every month. And, every once in a while someone will ask what I mean by the term Success Habits. So, it’s time for a brief explanation of what they are and why I talk about them.

Goal Success
The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines Habit as: (7b) an acquired mode of behavior that has become nearly or completely involuntary (got up early from force of habit).

And Success as: (2b) favorable or desired outcome; also: the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence.

So a Success Habit is an action we do without thinking about it that supports our success. We recognize examples of Success Habits in other people when we admire or appreciate a positive characteristic or trait.

Here are a few examples:

  • The person who is always polite and has a friendly smile.
  • The loved one who always comments on how beautiful you look.
  • The professional who is always on time for appointments with you.

These are Success Habits that have become part of the person’s personality. They don’t have to “try” to be that way, the trait is just part of who they are.

There are dozens of Success Habits that help us to reach our goals and I enjoy working with clients to find their Success Habits and create new ones that help to improve their lives.

Pay attention to your Success Habits and celebrate how they support your success.

Sincerely,
Edward Aldama
